The UPTET is a mandatory state-level eligibility exam for candidates aiming to secure teaching jobs in government and aided primary (Class 1-5) and upper primary (Class 6-8) schools across the state.

Primary Level (Class 1–5):
- Bachelor’s Degree + D.El.Ed (BTC) OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks + B.Ed
Upper Primary Level (Class 6–8):
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with 50% marks + B.Ed or D.El.Ed
Age Limit:
- Minimum age: 18 years
- No upper age limit

- General / OBC / EWS: ₹1000
- SC / ST: ₹500
- PwD: ₹300
